Alexandra Bitušíková received her PhD degree from Comenius University in Bratislava. She is a senior researcher at the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of SAS and full professor in ethnology at Matej Bel University in Banská Bystrica. She was visiting scholar at Cambridge University, University College London and Boston University (Fulbright). From 2001 to 2008, she worked in the European Commission and the European University Association in Brussels. Back in academia, she participated in more than ten EU projects and is the author of over hundred publications on urban change, social movements, diversity, identity, heritage, and gender in the Central European region, published with Routledge, Berghahn Books, Ashgate, Edward Elgar Publishing, or Palgrave Macmillan.
