IESA SAS became the coordinator of a European MSCA project
In September 2024, our institute became the coordinator of the RomChords project, supported under the prestigious Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) scheme of the Horizon Europe program.
The project is led by Petr Nuska, with expert supervision provided by Tatiana Zachar Podolinská. This interdisciplinary project focuses on exploring the phenomenon of so-called ‘Roma chords’ – a unique harmonic accompaniment used by Roma musicians in Slovakia.
The project will expand the boundaries of our research in ethnomusicology and Romani studies, foster interdisciplinary collaboration at both national and international levels, and contribute to the preservation of Romani intangible cultural heritage. In addition to the institute, the project involves the Center for the Study of Music and Dance in Portugal and the Museum of Romani Culture in the Czech Republic.
