Discussion on Work with Roma Communities in Churches in Slovakia
On Friday, April 10, 2026, a discussion meeting on the topic of church work among Roma communities took place in the hall of the Evanjelický spolok in Banská Bystrica.
The event was moderated by Adam Takáč from the daily Postoj, and Juraj Majo participated on behalf of the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences. He was joined by Salesian sister Zuzana Saloňová, who works in Luník IX, and Lutheran pastor Ľuboslav Beňo, who serves in Rankovce.
The result was an inspiring platform where research findings from our institute met with the practical experience of people who have spent many years working spiritually with Roma living in marginalized environments — and who have achieved positive outcomes.
