Jaroslava Panáková at the UArctic Congress in the Faroe Islands
From 25 to 28 May 2026, Jaroslava Panáková, a researcher at the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, participated in the UArctic Congress in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, organised in cooperation with the Ocean Connectivity Conference, the Arctic Council, and the University of the Faroe Islands.
As a member of the FutureMed Action, she presented a poster and conference paper entitled ‘Affective Images, Arctic Lives: Indigenous Yupik Visual Knowledge as a Decolonising Force’. During the congress, she also attended several expert sessions devoted to climate issues, ocean sustainability, and the resilience of northern communities, and took part in interdisciplinary discussions on Arctic futures, environmental transformation, and Indigenous knowledge systems.
