Project Duration: 2026-2029
The main goal of the research project is to deepen the understanding of various modalities of vulnerability inrelation to housing — the pathways to housing, its stability, the making of a home, ontological security, and thesense of belonging to a place of residence. It is based on the premise that housing should provide householdmembers with a sense of home, stability, and ontological security (Madden, Marcuse, 2016; Clapham, 2010;Browning, Joenniemi, 2016; Dupuis, Thorns, 1998). The project aims to ethnologically explore housing pathways, narratives associated with the idea of stable housing and home, and to examine how structures, policies, andadministrative practices at the state and municipal levels influence housing affordability. The qualitative research, including participatory methods, will be based on the experiences of various target groups: people experiencinghousing insecurity, transnational households, and individuals across the spectrum of sexual orientation andgender identity.
