Andrej Gogora Lectured at the 2026 Chroniclers’ Symposium in Martin
Our institute was represented at this year’s Chroniclers’ Symposium in Martin. On September 16 and 23, 2026, researcher Andrej Gogora delivered two lectures dedicated to the digital processing and accessibility of Slovakia’s cultural heritage.
The lectures, titled “From Fieldwork Collection to Digital Research Infrastructure: Processing and Accessing Ethnographic Collections,” provided attendees with a comprehensive view of contemporary research data management and curation.
In his presentation, Andrej Gogora outlined for the attending chroniclers, archivists, and regional history experts the process that ethnographic material must undergo—from its initial recording and collection directly in the field, through systematic processing, to its secure preservation and public accessibility via current digital research infrastructures.
The event in Martin provided an important space for sharing our institutional know-how and connecting academic research with the practice of memory institutions and regional experts involved in preserving local memory.
