International Research on the Availability of Services in Roma Communities in Slovakia
IESA SAS has launched an expert project for the international institution National Democratic Institute (NDI, Washington, D.C.) to map the availability of public services in Romani communities in Slovakia.
In addition to finalizing a desk report, the project team is responsible for organizing three focus groups (with a minimum of eight Roma participants each) and conducting 30 qualitative interviews with local stakeholders and key service providers in selected localities. The research also includes a qualitative, representative mapping module conducted in over 30% of households in three research-chosen locations within the Prešov region.
The study aims to assess the effectiveness of various local service delivery systems and identify potential objective and subjective barriers to their full functionality for all citizens, regardless of ethnic or social status. The research has a participatory design, with approximately 35 participants from the selected locations involved in designing and conducting the research. The research team consists of: Tatiana Zachar Podolinská, Daniel Škobla, Andrej Belák, Alexander Mušinka, and Edita Rigová.
