Ľudovít Štúr Honorary Plaque of the Slovak Academy of Sciences for Merit in the Humanities and Social Sciences for our colleague Dr. Monika Vrzgulová
On December 4, 2025, on the occasion of her life anniversary, our colleague, Dr. Monika Vrzgulová, was awarded the Ľudovít Štúr Honorary Plaque of the Slovak Academy of Sciences for Merit in the Humanities and Social Sciences.
The Scientific Council of the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences nominated our colleague, who with her long-term scientific results has demonstrably contributed significantly to the development of the scientific field of ethnology and specifically the field of memory studies and research of the Holocaust in the domestic and international context. It turned out that with her conscientious approach, commitment, but also the ability to create domestic and international networks, she brought to our society irreplaceable and still inexhaustible knowledge about her own past. The invaluable importance of her scientific work is also in the fact that she established cooperation with the last surviving generation of the Holocaust, thus obtaining research material of great, even salvage, value. We would like to congratulate our colleague, Monika Vrzgulová, and wish her a lot of success in her future work!
