Network of Academic Institutions on Romani Studies (NAIRS) at the Institute of Ethnology, SAS

On Wednesday, 29 June 2016, a meeting of the founding members of this academic network took place in Bratislava, where joint activities were discussed (organizing lectures and seminars for doctoral students and students interested in Romani studies, exchange stays for teachers, researchers, and students, regular publishing of newsletters) along with opportunities to expand the network and collaborate with other institutions in Europe focused on Romani studies.

The Institute of Ethnology SAS in Bratislava, as one of the five founding NAIRS institutions, organized the first summer school for doctoral students in Romani studies in August 2016. The summer school was attended by 16 PhD students from Finland, Romania, Estonia, Ukraine, Serbia, the United Kingdom, Norway, Iceland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and China, who focus their research on Romani topics and studies.
