Prestigious Slovak Academy of Sciences Awards for Our Colleagues

On 17 June 2025, the Presidium of the Slovak Academy of Sciences conferred prestigious awards upon its researchers. The ceremonial event took place at the SAS Congress Centre, located at Smolenice Castle.
The SAS Awards represent the highest form of recognition for the creative work of the Academy’s researchers. The Slovak Academy of Sciences bestows these honours annually for outstanding achievements in scientific research, for contributions to the popularisation of science, for exceptional international collaboration, and as recognition for an emerging scientific personality.
Representing our institute, Elena Marushiaková and Veselin Popov were awarded the SAS Prize for Scientific Research Excellence for their remarkable publication Stalin vs. Gypsies – Roma and Political Repressions in the USSR. The SAS Medal for the Promotion of Science was conferred upon our emeritus colleague Peter Slavkovský.
More information about the awards can be found HERE.
We warmly congratulate all the award recipients and wish them good health and continued creative energy in their future scientific endeavours!
