Andrej Gogora at the International Conference Digital Humanities & Heritage 2026
From October 7 to 9, 2026, the 6th DARIAH-HR International Conference – Digital Humanities & Heritage (DHH 2026) took place at the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula in Croatia. Andrej Gogora actively participated in the event, representing the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences (IESA SAS).
The main theme of this year’s conference was “Cultural Memory vs. Machine Memory.” The event was co-organized by DARIAH-HR, the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research in Zagreb, DARIAH-IT, and the Faculty of Humanities at the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula. The conference reflected on the growing presence of artificial intelligence and algorithmic systems in memory institutions and research infrastructures.
At the event, Andrej Gogora delivered a presentation and a poster titled “Curating Ethnographic Research Data: Transitioning From Cultural to Machine Memory.” His contribution addressed the challenges associated with curating ethnographic research data and the importance of transitioning this data from traditional cultural memory into machine-readable formats.
Participation in DHH 2026 represents an important contribution to the development of digital humanities in Slovakia and confirms the active involvement of IESA SAS in the international academic discourse on building resilient digital infrastructures for humanities research.
