IESA SAS and Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg have signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation
On 22 January 2026, the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Pietism Research, Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation.
The main aim of this cooperation is to foster domestic and international scientific cooperation and communication through mutually coordinated approaches that serve the shared interests of the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology SAS (IESA SAS) and the Interdisciplinary Centre for Pietism Research, Martin-Luther-Universität Halle-Wittenberg. Cooperation under this Agreement shall encompass scientific research and related organisational, legislative, editorial, presentation, promotional, and educational activities, as well as other areas of mutual interest.
The object of this Agreement is to develop mutually beneficial activities and various forms of cooperation in the field of interdisciplinary research into the anthropological, ethnographic, historical, theological, sociological, and cultural aspects of Christian mission among the Roma, especially by Protestant denominations.
The cooperation on the side of the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology SAS (IESA SAS) belongs to the research clusters Ethnic and Minority Studies, core topic Romani Studies, and Contemporary societies, as well as the cluster Religious studies.
