- Mariia Kazmyrchuk is an ethnologist and social anthropologist and a graduate of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Her research focuses on migration, intercultural adaptation, and the social and cultural transformations associated with forced migration. She is particularly interested in the experiences of Ukrainians under temporary protection in Slovakia, their everyday lives, relationships with the majority society, and the ways in which migrants establish and maintain social ties under changing conditions. As a doctoral researcher at the Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, she focuses on the transformation of Ukrainian families and their transnational care strategies under conditions of forced migration to Slovakia after 2022. Her research examines the everyday practices through which transnational families maintain, reorganise, and negotiate family relationships and obligations despite the geographical separation caused by the war.
