- Vojak, D., & Majo, J. (Eds.). (2026). Annual Meeting of the Gypsy Lore Society. Conference on Romani Studies: Book of Abstracts. Bratislava : Institute of Ethnology and Social Anthropology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, Zagreb: Institute of Social Science Ivo Pilar.
The Gypsy Lore Society is an international association of scholars, specialists, and practitioners, founded in Britain in 1888. Its annual conferences are among the most important academic events in Romani studies worldwide. Each year the conference is held in a different country; in 2026 it took place in Zagreb, Croatia, from 2 to 5 September.
The publication reflects the most current research themes in Romani studies. The contributions address cultural development, religiosity, social issues, and law, as well as discrimination against and crimes targeting Romani communities. They examine not only the present day but also historical contexts. The book of abstracts also includes the opening address by GLS President Tatiana Zachar Podolinská on the cult of Saint Sara in Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer, France.
